Productie Youyota-tablet vertraagd

Het team achter de Youyota-tablet heeft vandaag bekend gemaakt dat de productie van de SailfishOS tablet een behoorlijke vertraging heeft opgelopen. De initiële planning was om eind september de productie te realiseren.

In het bericht op de Indiegogo-campagnepagina geven ze een toelichting op de situatie. In het kort komt het erop neer dat het benodigde aantal units van 1000 stuks te laag is om een plek te kunnen bemachtigen in de drukke productieperiode richting het eind van het jaar. De uiteindelijk oplossing die men hiervoor heeft is om 3000 i.p.v. 1000 units te produceren. Dit verschil wordt vanuit eigen middelen van de ontwikkelaars betaald.

Men hoopt nu om uiteindelijk eind oktober alle onderdelen te kunnen gaan samenbrengen in een mooie tablet. Zodra er meer duidelijkheid is van leveranciers en assemblage volgt er een uitgebreidere planning.

Hello all. First of all we sincerely apologise for the late response and update regarding the process. Thank you for your great support and patience. We will explain what has happened lately and the next step of action in this post. At beginning of September, we called the components supplier to order a total of 1000 sets of components, and also tried to book the assemble line. We wanted to have the production and delivery plan make by the 16th. However, as we are getting closer towards end of the year, when it’s the busiest time of the year preparing for the holiday season, we can no longer order the components and reserve the factory assembling line for this quantity. We have tried to reach out with different suppliers in this week but there is no availability for this amount in a period of time. After our internal discussion, we decided to contribute and put investment ourselves to this campaign instead of waiting – We will order 3000 units instead of 1000, and we will cover the extra units, to make production possible at this moment. We are sorry for keeping quiet recently, because we will need to make a big investment, there are a lot of financial factors that we need to overcome. We are pleased to say that we have passed our internal process for ordering 3000 units, and we have started re-approaching the suppliers and factory. If everything goes under the plan we will have components ready by late October and having the first batch of assembly finished at the beginning of November. We will publish a detailed plan once we received the confirmation from all our suppliers. Again we are really sorry for the inconvenience that may cause. We will update very shortly regarding the production plan and delivery date of the product after securing all the components. Thanks again for all the support!
